Mom + Dad = Baby Girl

by Jared

It seems like its been a long journey, but thinking about the pregnancy now seems like time has gone by so fast - however, Annie may disagree. And now we're within a month of the due date of our baby girl. The date of arrival is quickly approaching, so we should probably buckle down and pick out a name for her. We've gotten used to and enjoy calling her 'Baby Girl', so maybe we'll just go with that. Baby Girl McCammon. That has a nice ring to it. But I guess it wouldn't be a good name for longer than a year or two. She might get ridiculed in high school for such a name. She might also get confused in later years if we have another girl and they're both called 'baby.'

We've got the middle name - and thankfully, her last name - nailed down, so what about that all-important first name? We've recently settled on Katelyn, and that might indeed be the chosen name for our daughter. However, we're using one of our inalienable rights to wait until she's born to change our minds. Annie will call her Katie, I will call her Katelyn, others may call her Kate or Kat and K-lyn. So if Katelyn ends up as the official name on the birth certificate we're definitely getting our monies worth from the variations of the name that people will be calling her throughout her life. Katelyn Laura McCammon, we'll try and not confuse her too much in the early years.
